In October last year I warned South West Water (SWW) was polluting our sea and the River Teign with sewage. I was accused of ‘grandstanding’ and every barrier was put in my way of getting council to do their main duty – represent the people to powerful interests. Fortunately thanks to Cllr Huw Cox and Jacky Hook, SWW had to come to explain themselves to Teignbridge. Now SWW has become the latest water company targeted in an Ofwat investigation into environmental performance and sewage treatment issues. South West Water adds to a growing list of water suppliers to come under investigation as the watchdog probes how companies are managing treatment works.
